Overseas recruitment is governed by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) Act No 21 of 1985. Companies dealing in overseas recruitment are required to register themselves with the SLBFE and obtain a license, issued under this Act, to carry out business. Licensed Foreign Employment Agencies are required to obtain prior approval from the SLBFE to advertise vacancies and to recruit and dispatch the selected candidates.
